One letter from Leonard Eugene Graeff to Susan Prowell Graeff and Raymond James Graeff dated January 20, 1944. Leonard writes that as he writes he is waiting his turn to use the welding machine as there is 3 or 4 times men then machines. He was glad to hear from Raymond and notes that he has been kept up to date with what is happening at home through Malinda. He was sad to hear about William Hogentogler and mentions an article he read in the paper about 300 pints of blood that was flown to Texas to keep a young child alive for a year. He was not surprised to hear the car battery was no good. he asks Raymond to look into getting a new battery around the end of February as he believes he will be home in March. He also lets them know he is sending a money order to them for forty five dollars as he was just paid and has a lot of cash. He asks they hold onto it for now as he may need it back when he gets more regular leave. He also tells Raymond to take the price of the battery out of that amount. Leonard reports that the fellow soldier he had dinner with is from the western part of Pennsylvania. He reports that the weather is significantly warmer than home and has been in the 50's all week.
