Susan updates Leonard on the weather and family including; Edith Hutton Bertha Hutton, and the Hollis family. She writes the most recent information on his bank accounts. She updates him on people in town with loved ones serving and inquires how Robert Winemiller is. She comments on his news that some of his married friends are having trouble writing that they are seeing that more now. The men are coming back from the war and not "being the same" the wives do not understand and it makes marriage difficult. She mentions Lill having a 24 year old veteran that had no home move into her house. She comments that he is "almost all metal from his head to his feet."
