National History Teacher of the Year

The National History Teacher of the Year Award recognizes outstanding K–12 American history teachers across the country. Nominate a teacher today!

  • National Winner receives a $10,000 prize presented at an award ceremony in their honor in New York City.
  • State winners receive a $1,000 prize and an archive of classroom resources.

Important Calendar Dates

  • Deadline for 2016 nominations: February 15, 2016
  • Deadline for 2016 nominees to submit supporting materials: March 28, 2016

The 2016 National History Teacher of the Year Award will honor an outstanding middle or high school teacher. The 2017 award will honor an elementary school teacher. Teachers can be nominated in either category throughout the year.
