Andrew Delbanco, the Alexander Hamilton Professor of American Studies at Columbia University, a distinguished historical writer, a friend of the Gilder Lehrman Institute, and a past Teacher Seminar lead scholar, has released his latest book, The War before the War: Fugitive Slaves and the Struggle for America’s Soul from the Revolution to the Civil War.

One of the featured writers in the Fall 2018 issue of History Now is Jane Hong, an assistant professor of history at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
