Rosanne Lichatin

Rosanne Lichatin began her career as an American history teacher before serving as the district supervisor of history in the West Morris Regional High School District in New Jersey.  During her tenure, she designed and implemented curriculum to support both Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) history programs. Rosanne mentored new staff members by modeling best practices with an emphasis on using an inquiry-based approach to teaching in the discipline. As a teacher, she encouraged her students to engage in meaningful learning experiences, including participation in National History Day, volunteer work with the local historical society, and exploration of the compelling narratives of ordinary people who made significant contributions to our history.

Rosanne was named the 2005 Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year and the NJ History Teacher of the YearShe also received the National History Club Advisor of the Year award in 2010 and was honored as the Patricia Behring NJ National History Day Teacher of the Year in 2012.

Currently, Rosanne leads workshops on a variety of American history topics, with a particular emphasis on the effective integration of primary sources in the classroom. She also serves as a volunteer reader for the Gates Scholarship Foundation. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
