Sara Ziemnik

Sara Ziemnik has taught social studies for over twenty-five years at Rocky River High School, where she centers her students’ experience around discussion and inquisitive learning. She encourages her students to learn from one another and works with the local community, as seen in one of her projects with Cleveland State University, in which students created and added content to the “Cleveland Historical” app, where users can explore Cleveland history via interactive tours.

Sara received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching from Miami University and her Master of Arts in History from Cleveland State.

She received the Gilder Lehrman National History Teacher of the Year Award in 2017, and was selected as a James Madison Fellow in 2002.
