Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to issue bonds "at a rate of six per centum per annum, payable at the pleasure of the owner in the currency in which interest is paid on the other bonds of the Confederate States, or in cotton of the quality of New Orleans middling, valued at eight-pense sterling per pound ... " Marked as "Copy No 70."
