Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

3 notes. One addressed to Col. Maggis requesting that Stone and others return on the 2 o' clock train. The other addressed to Col. Morse instructing him to have Corporal Stone return at 2pm. The last appears to be the top part of a letter. Only the address remains.
