Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

List of furniture and utensils belonging to a Mrs. Manson that was retained for the use of the 3rd Provisional Brigade, Colonel Eliakim Scammon's unit. Lists furniture and other items with the number of each and the value. List is the same as GLC 2414.177, and GLC 2414.178. On page two is a short list of items specifically for Colonel Scammon, including a washstand, bowl and pitcher, arm chair, and a small looking glass.
