Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reports that the magazines for the month of February have been shipped on board the Lydia, under Captain Hall. Returns Thomas Moss's unpaid bill on Grimanney & Co. (GLC02437.00005). Encloses an order and Thomas Bralston's bill on Lane & Co. Has sent the second volume of Harwood's "Introduction." Longman was a London bookseller.
