Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

States the two commissioned officers should produce evidence that a claimant was wounded in the service of the United States. Says the evidence needs to include the time and object of the expedition the officer was on as well as the name of the commanding officer. Also, two respectable physicians should certify the claimant's situation. This evidence needs to be heard in an open court. Notes the Secretary of War is authorized to deal with each situation and that fraud cases are to be heard before the House of Representatives. Date written in a different hand with a black pen.
