At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes that he has been unable to convince buyers that Knox's lime is as high in quality as the lime from Rhode Island, and provides the price he has been able to secure for Knox's lime. Discusses financial arrangements with Mr. [possibly Nicholas] Hoffman. Asks that Knox send him any more lime he has as soon as possible.
