At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. Summary of Content: Docketed as "some minutes respecting the terms of the proposed loan to the U.S - for [illegible] the troops to be raised by virtues of the resolve of Congress of the 20th October 1786." The loan is for $500,000. (The troops were being raised to quell Shays's Rebellion.)
