Commodore Barry tells Seagrove that the militia who suppressed the Whiskey Rebellion in western Pennsylvania has arrived home safe. Also indicates that he sent receipts with this letter (not included). Written from Strawberry Hill, Barry's near Philadelphia.
Strawberry Hill Decr. 30th 1794
Dear Seagrove,
Major Hopkins made me very happy in Informing me of your safe arrival at Savannah, and I have the pleasure to acquaint you that the Militia of the States that was ordered to the Western County of Pennsya. against the Insurgents are all got safe Home, there is between twenty and thirty of them lodged in our Gaul and it is thought may of them will swing. Your note of Messrs. Morris & Nicholson I gave to Mr. John Brown for which he [strikeout] delivered me the enclosed Receipt if it is not Satisfactory write one your self and enclosed to me, and I will get him to sign it and send it to you. [] Miss Butlers are well but have not heard from the Major which makes them uneasy, Mrs. Barry Joins me in our best Compliments to you & Mrs. Seagrove, and believe your Obedient H. St.
