At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. Summary of Content: Brigadier General Cass authorizes the payment of a military account owed to Lieutenant Meek of the 7th infantry regiment. Colonel Huntington was a district paymaster and had been governor of Ohio. Cass would later become governor of Michigan.
