Also signed by President of the Bank Sidney Rigdon. Numbered 1493. Printed from plates obtained in Philadelphia from Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty. The Kirtland Safety Society Anti-Banking Company, which issued the notes, attempted without success to get a charter for the bank from the Ohio legislature in 1836 and 1837. The bank failed in the summer of 1837. Signed by Smith as Cashier.

Date had been given as 1834, but date on the piece appears to be 1837, and 1837 is consistent with the history of the bank.
