Ananias Cooper says that he is sending Jack back to Robert, Jr., and explains that he is nearly recovered from an illness that caused him to cough and spit up blood. He prescribes some pills to be given to Jack, and recommends that he refrain from any physical labor until he is fully recovered. With note below the letter by Robert, Jr., dated 16 September 1783, in which he states that he made payment to Cooper.

Rhinebeck 30 June 1783
Sir,
I last evening reviewed yours of the 26 Inst. With a request to Send Jack home if he was well or In a [Mincing] way. If you had not wrote, I intended to have Sent him home in about eight Days- I Send With him a Box of pills for him to take 3 morning & evening and [struck: drink] to Drink a Decoction of red-[Elm] Bark after them; and other times in the Day also-and to Drink the Decoction for Sometime after he has taken the pills up. Besides the disagreable eruptions, He had a Cough & Spitting Blood. I suppose the Same acrid Humour of the eruption had fell on his Lungs [corodid] them, and brought on the cough & Spitting of Blood. I Send him home almost well, I hope with the pills & Directions above mention[e]d Will Complete his [illegible]
