Promising Jenkins fifty pounds. Sent to Thomas Green at Gray's Inn in London. Signed by Romney and Jenkins. Signed on verso by Moses V. Montefiore to whom the money was eventually paid.

Moses Vita Montefiore was the grandfather of Sir Moses Montefiore, a famous Jewish philanthropist.
Thomas Jenkins was a British painter and art dealer who lived in Rome and secured commissions for other artists living there.
