Asks Nichols to convert the enclosed check for $1200 (not present) into U.S. 5-20 coupon bonds. Advises that he can probably get them at the Howard Bank and, if not, in Boston.
Hincks was a Union General and Commander of Camp Lookout prison April - May 1864. He led a Negro division in the Petersburg siege. He also served on court martial and recruiting duties intermittently. Nichols was a Cambridge Massachusetts Commission merchant.
