Discusses investments and mentions that he is not sure gold will remain at a high premium for long. Instructs him about what to invest and where. States that Lillie is improving from her illness and informs that he has sent money to cover the expenses. Hopes he will be able handle his own affairs soon as he feels he is taking advantage of Nichols.
Hincks was a Union General and Commander of Camp Lookout prison April - May 1864. He led a Negro division in the Petersburg siege. He also served on court martial and recruiting duties intermittently. Nichols was a Cambridge Massachusetts Commission merchant.
