Encloses a draft, asks Nichols to pay his life insurance bill, and states that Lillie has a dentist bill to be paid by her mother. Mentions the weather. On stationery from the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Hincks was a Union General and Commander of Camp Lookout prison April - May 1864. He led a Negro division in the Petersburg siege. He also served on court martial and recruiting duties intermittently. Nichols was a Cambridge Massachusetts Commission merchant.
