Writes to his wife, noting that he received her letter a few days ago, and apologizes for being too lazy to answer it until now. He includes trinkets for the children in the letter, and tells her that "I should like to send you all a kiss if I could so you must do the kising for me..." He asks her not to blame him for using some of his money, and explains in detail what rations he is using the money for, and why he needs them. Requests that when she writes she includes all the "partickelers about all the folks." Mentions someone named James, who he thinks should stay at home and take care of his parents -- and not join the army, as the law "cant compel him to come..." Letter is addressed to Masonville in Delaware County, New York.
