Sarcastic and funny letter written by Alice to her cousin Henry. Says they are expecting him on 14 September. Reports that his aunt says he will be disappointed in herself and cousin Lillie. Is sure that is not true though. Says they are beautiful and describes Lillie: "5 feet, 9 inches in height, with pretty hazel eyes and a wealth of beautiful brown hair, has a prettily shaped hand and is altogether a Combination of Sweets." Describes herself as "precisely 5 feet 3 in height and her weight is only 250 lbs. has little grey eyes and is as broad as she is long." Envelope in the back of the file was addressed to McSherry on the USS "Wabash" at Port Royal, South Carolina in the care of the naval lyceum at Brooklyn Naval Yard. Docket on back of envelope says 19 Nov. 'Delaware.'"
