McCabe's letter abusing Grant.
with
9 May 1906, Washington
Dear Sam:
Herewithin a copy of a letter I wrote Ben giving an outline of my Boston trip. Show it to ? & Mc? If you ever go to Lexington. Let Scott Shiff read it. Joe Bryon writes me that McCabe did not mean to ? me by writing me a letter abusing ? & when nothing had been said by anyone to provoke such a letter. That just the reverse. I had not written to McCabe - only sent him a paper marked Nov. I have no idea that he intended to insult me - it only shows his obtuse sensibility. I wo. Be very obtuse if I were not offended out of it. Any real gentleman wo. know that such a letter wo. Offend me.
Yours Truly
J.S. Mosby

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
