Dear Sam:
I recd. a letter from you when I was in Bedford saying that you wd. send me The Old Dominion Sun that had something of interest to me. It has not come - I had a letter from Willie Chapman a few days ago - written from [struck: S] - the late City of San Francisco - It is now almost as desolate as Palmyra. I want to pay another visit to Bedford in October & to go via Staunton & Lexington. I have not yet heard of the demise of Col. Smith -Tell Sam Yost that as Tom has announced his own death within a certain, definite, short time it wd: be perfectly legitimate for him to publish Tom's obituory before he actually dies - just as Deon Swift did that of Partridge -The Almanac [struck: M] maker. My kind regards to Yost & to Hugh. I enclosed Tom speech Your Truly,
in a letter to Ben - also Jno: S. Mosby
your letter.
Did Hugh cry when he read Tom's speech?
