At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Wants his brother and lawyers to collect money owed to him. Instructs William to send word about a court case in which the Buntly family is currently involved, mentioning that he thinks best that the case be tried although he entrusts William with the particulars while he is away at war.
