Describes the battle at Ramen where he lost his clothes.

[Partial]
To: William Buntly Camp near Canton, Miss.
From: G. W. Buntly May the 22nd, 1863

We left Port Hudson on the 2nd day of this month and landed here yesterday, we have been marching or fighting all the time since we left Port Hudson. We was in a hard fight at Ramen on the 12th ins. in which our Brigade fought 5 Brigades for 4 hours with considerable loss on both sides and we had to retreat and on our retreat we lost all the clothes and blankets we had, that is the most of us did. I loss all I had but what I had on which was one white cotton shirt and the old Yankey pants that I had when I left and one pair of cotton drawers is all the clothes that I have left and them all badly worn.
