They have been fighting at Vicksburg for 3 weeks, I heard that on last Friday and Saturday the Yanks made successive charges on our works and at the same time the gunboats came down and made the attack in front with the gunboats and they suffered severly, our men sunk 17 gunboats and transports and the Yankey loss is stated to be 27 thousand killed, wounded and missing.
