Wishing a Merry Christmas and offering the gift of a cap. State written from unknown.

December 1861, Concord
"A Merry Christmas" and please accept this cap as a remembrance from a dear friend. I know you will value it as a piece of my own work, if not for its beauty.
Not till yesterday did I receive that letter I had looked in vain for for such a long time.
I shall answer you soon in the meantime, believe me as every,
Your friend
Mr. L. Grove
