Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This document is a debit report to John Lyon from William Henry Harrison. James Taylor will be the agent to pay Lyon. The report is for the costs of furnishing a detatchment of Kentucky militia, under General WIlliam Henry Harrison's command, with various tools and supplies. Measurements of actual document are 25 x 20 cm. Docketed on verso.
