Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reports that Lieutenant Commandant Strong will take command of the troops during the absence of the Commander in Chief. Captain Isaac Guion of the 3rd Sub Legion will resume his duty as Sub Legionary Major and Inspector. States that the quartermaster will order the horses arriving from Fort Hamilton be sent with a shipment of flour to the port on the St. [Shary?]. Orders that the sawyers and boat builders will continue their business without interruption. Wayne was the general in command of the United States Army in Greeneville, Ohio.
