"Knight of the Most Honorable Order of Bath, Governor of Virginia, Colonel of His Majesty's 15th & 60th Regiments of Foot, Lieutenant General & Commander in Chief Of His Majesty's Forces in North America from 1758 to 1764." He is posing with a map entitled "Plan of the Island of Montreal & its Environs." The background is largely dominated by dark clouds, although a river crowded with large boats is visible in the landscape behind the figure.
