Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Very similar to #571, but probably at a different time of day. A line of trains and railroad tracks cut across the center of the image. The town lies behind the railroad and there are hills in the background. Inscription on recto: "Mill Creek gap - rocky face ridge in Dalton." Notation in lower left corner "5."
