Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Title from verso. Similar image (GLC05235.11.02) claims view is to the north. The Fitchburg supply company is directly across the street in both photographs. It is the same view as GLC05235.11.02, but with less snowfall. Inscription on verso also reads "Window to my room."
