Labeled Vol. 1 no. 3. Southard serves as editor. Published by D. K. Hitchcock. With front paper engraving depicting William [Lloyd] Garrison attempting to chop down a tree labeled "Slavery" while a minister, soldier, businessman and President Van Buren attempt to support the tree. Contains many illustrations showing the injustices of slavery. Closes with Garrison's address opposing the annexation of Texas to the Union as a "slaveholding country." Edges are extremely delicate.
