Particulars of Vallandigham's Arrest, T.J. Jackson's Last Moment, Reaction to Hooker's Retreat.
An editorial from the Richmond Enquirer examines the purpose of the war from a Northern perspective. An article describes the recusant conscription of a millwright, discussing exemptions to conscription. Another article describes the injury and death of General T.J. Jackson. A long list includes casualties in several regiments as well wounded soldiers.

The paper was printed in Salem, North Carolina from 1851-1892, when it was absorbed by the Western Sentinel. At the time of this collection, the paper was edited and printed by L.V. Blum, who owned the Salem Printing Office. He also published and sold the annual Farmers' and Planters' Almanac.
