Suffering of Soldiers in Bragg's Army, Chickamauga a Month After the Fight.
An editorial deplores the practice of kidnapping free white men for conscription. A brief article describes the desolation of harvest and land near Richmond. Governor Vance issues a message to the second extra session of the General Assembly of North Carolina. An article details the sufferings of soldiers in Bragg's Army.

The paper was printed in Salem, North Carolina from 1851-1892, when it was absorbed by the Western Sentinel. At the time of this collection, the paper was edited and printed by L.V. Blum, who owned the Salem Printing Office. He also published and sold the annual Farmers' and Planters' Almanac.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
