He is very tired because he has had a battalion drill for an hour every afternoon. Mentions the Fort Pillow massacre.

[excerpt:]
Pretty tired for we have been taking a big game of ball today. We drill an hour every afternoon but we work a good bit harder a playing ball than we do at drill or anything.
