Bogert writes from Camp Bliss, Uptons Hill. Requests Jacob, his father, to immediately send his commission, discharge papers, and all other papers which he left at home in New York City. Requests the papers so that he may collect payment for his service. States " ... please be very careful and mail it with as much care as you can so that you may be sure it will arrive safe and all right ... "
Bogert served as Captain and Lieutenant Colonel of the 103rd Regiment, United States Colored Troops. The 103rd Regiment served at various locations in Georgia and South Carolina, and was mustered out 15-20 April 1866.
