Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes to her husband (possibly in Plymouth) about visiting several friends and family members. Mentions the death of a family friend and the subsequent return of Catherine (possibly a sister). Is sorry she will not be able to see him this week but is glad to have finally received his letter. Talks about their baby and how it is getting along. Signed G.S. Rob[inson]. Written on blue paper.
