Ewell notes, "All rolling stocks on the rail road should be sent to the rear immediately... bridges burnt and every thing destructible in the V(irginia) V(alley) destroyed... Should the enemy come on we can deal with him." The letter has been continued by turning upside down and writing between the lines.
