Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One paper doilie of Saint Rose de Lima dated June 13. It contains the saint's portrait on the front, as well as, being addressed to "Ms. Stauffer." Reverse side contains biography of Saint Rose written in French. Also includes Stauffer's note asking an unaddressed recipient to visit the following week.
