Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reports the preliminary terms of a peace treaty between the United States and Great Britain, ending the American Revolution. There is also a long article on suicide, political news items, and advertisements. The name "Northampton" is written on the top of p. 1. Damage to the paper has resulted in text loss and loss of the section recording the edition number.
