Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

11th annual volume of a periodical journal that resembles the Gentleman's Magazine and London Magazine in format and style. 12 monthly issues plus supplement for 1779 containing reports on the War of Independence. Issues are not bound together. Includes many engraved plates. Printed for A. Hamilton, Jr. The March issue reprints the Declaration of Independence (p.148-150), and the April issue the Articles of Confederation (p. 206-209).
