Accounts of historical news and occurrences throughout the empire, the world and the American colonies. 12 issues plus supplement for 1781 containing reports on the war and news from America, plus a report with fold-out copper plate of "American Stoves" invented by Benjamin Franklin (p. 453-454). Issues are not bound together.
Sylvanus Urban was the pseudonym used by the first publisher of the Gentleman's Magazine, Edward Cave. After his death in 1754, the name Urban continued to be used by the following publishers. Henry printed the magazine from 1754-1788.
