Written 4:30 PM at the office. Sylvia filled in at the Intake Department at work and enjoyed it. Describes working in the field as endless work, that makes you always think you've forgotten something. Describes a new 42 year old woman at work as a "girl" who is a lot of fun and to whom she told some of Moe's dirty limericks. Tells a dirty (sexual) joke in the letter.

Dearest darling,
Hello - Here I am, finished with my days work - which I can assure you has not bee[inserted: n] too difficult. I worked in Intake today, just to fill in and I really enjoyed it. I now realize that I only enjoyed my work in the Department when I worked in intake. It seems that I am particularly we[inserted: ll] fitted for the work. You see, darling, that the field deman[inserted: ds] endless work - you go home at the end of the day - with the feeling that you left something hanging in mid-air - and you usually, have left something. Having a peculiar turn of mind in which I am only satisfied upon completion of any action I undertake. this kind of thing is irking me. Beside which, there are so many small details to attend to, and to keep in one's min[struck: e] [inserted: d,] that I keep writing notes to myself, which take half of my time. But of course there is plenty of [struck: y] [inserted: T]ime and I am not really working too hard. It is just that we keep thinking of what we have to do instead of what we already have completed.
I have not been home yet so I do not have your letter of today to answer. I received only your "Free letter" yesterday with the card enclosures, so I haven't anything to answer from yesterday either.
I just came up from the corner ice cream parlor where one of the girls and I had some coffee and some fun. This girl is new to you as she is from this office. But I know you would like her so much. She is 42 years old, actually, but looks much younger and is very attractive. She lives with her 13 year old daughter on Coleridge St. And what a sense of humor - just as crazy as a loon - just like me - in fact - I told her some of your dirty limericks - and did she giggle - Wow! Especially, the one about the Man[struck: n] from Mass whose balls were made of glass etc - that seemed to tickle her more than any-thing. By the way - you guys must tell each other some jokes - how about telling me some of them, darling. I am writing letter practically surrounded by a bevy of girls - I said that I am writing a letter to my husband so I was told a story to tell you -

Here it is: [struck: A] 30 WAACs went on furlough and when they have returned the C.O barked out - " all girls who have intercourse during their furlough step out" - Promptly, 29 girls stepped out. The C.O then turned to the 30th WAAC and said " What's the matter with youv [sic] - are you deaf?" Gee! I hope it seems as funny as it did to me.
Well darling, it is now 5 P.M. and I am on my way to Mom's - so I will have more to tell you, later - I do hope that I will have a letter from you to night - Well hon - This is Friday nite and Oh, how I would love to go to a movie with you - but [strikeout] I can't seem to enjoy the movie myself. So - I will come homen [sic] [strikeout] and let myself dream of you and what you are doing. I know it so well by now - your rushing to get the barracks cleaned up - and yourself as well - your missing chow - so that you can make services - Well sweets - have a good time. I have an ambitous day ahead tomorrow - aluncheon [sic] for Sam Finestone at the St. George - yep - he is leaving for VOC.
So sweets - good evening - I will talk to you once again today -
I could write another "pome" but all my "pomes" today are in a corny style - that even I am ashamed. So here's just a plain kiss - which puts me in bliss - Gosh I told you so - didn't I?
