Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe is overwhelmed by the number of letters he has to answer. He tells Sylvia she must keep better hours so she can get up on time. He tells her some English colloquialisms that he has learned and says he will write to Hilda Selm whom Sylvia heard is in the A.R.C.
