Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This collection consist of seven issues of The Black Panther newspaper for 1971. It also contains four other items; One pamphlet entitled Social Action by Huber F. Klemme, One Time Magazine Special Issue for April 6, 1970, One pamphlet entitled All Power to the People: The Story of the Black Panther Party by Terry Cannon, and one pamphlet entitled Interpol: Its Function in the World in the International Criminal published by the Black Panther Party.
