At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

39 letters 1 photograph and 4 newspaper clippings from Susanne "Sue" Gail Sabaroff to Louis "Lou" W. Stamps, except #16, which is from Alyee to Lou and includes photo of Alyee. Sue is a college student at Penn State and Lou is a graduate student at Bucknell University.

Susanne Gail Sabaroff was born 17 April 1944 and grew up in Philadelphia. She attended Pennsylvania State University, where she majored in elementary and kindergarten education and was involved in Hillel. She married her college boyfriend, Louis W. Stamps, soon after graduation.
Louis was born 20 May 1943, and also attended Pennsylvania State University. He entered a graduate program in psychology at Bucknell University while Sue was still at Penn State. They later moved to Wisconsin, where Louis practiced psychology and Sue taught.
