THE RESURRECTION OF THE CROSS
Pat
Once every bead within the chain
That held my heart's rosary,
Portrayed a betrayed kiss,
Brought some ache to me-
I strived to count them patiently,
To calmly view my loss,
And stealed [sic] myself to resignedly
Learn to kiss the cross.
But now my rosary's every bead
Is one of love and joy,
I tell the beads with happiness
Disturbed not by alloy.
No more self-afflicted prayers
To make my soul-self toss
Because it signifies each bead
I love to kiss the cross.
